TRK 101 Turkish Language-I
In this lesson students are taught the fact that Turkish language is an orderly, rich, productive and ancient language. Students are made to comprehend what they listen to and what they read in depth and in subtlety; and to express what they hear, see, think and understand in a planned, effective and rational manner both orally and in writing. They are made to internalize the fact that reading is an essential need and joy and they are made to acquire the habit of reading. Grammar topics are covered in such a manner that the meaning is well grasped thus making the student to be able to express himself/herself by the virtue of observations and comparisons made on text passages. They are made to gain information sharing and presentation making skills.
MING 101 English-I
A placement test is given and then students are grouped at their language proficiency levels. At their levels, four skills, listening, speaking, reading and writing are given as a whole. Students are also assigned to do some extra work in English such as searching and preparing material, homework, and take home exercises. Authentic material is used in order to help students to better understand the spoken language. Examples are selected from their subject areas to get their attention to the language. Student centered approached is applied to motivate students to do more in English. In this way, students feel themselves more authoritative and they take more responsibility in learning English.
MBT 101 Information Technologies-I (ECDL)
In this course learners are given practical education on computer hardware and standard application software besides the fundamental concepts of information technology at the point where information technology has evolved through decades to this day. Information Technology unit is taught in accordance with the ECDL – European Computer Driving License- certification curriculum, which is becoming a standard towards fundamental computer education throughout the world. After completing the course, learners are expected to be ready to succeed in the 1st stage of ECDL Core certification test and obtain the certificate.
MOD 101 Key skills
The course will provide students with opportunities to develop interpersonal and analytical skills and knowledge in both the study and practice of communication. This course is divided into two modules: Numeracy and Literacy. Key Skills (Numeracy) course will develop and help the ability of students to select and apply numerical, graphical and related mathematical skills in ways that are appropriate to their particular context. The aim of application of number standards is to encourage students to develop and demonstrate their skills in interpreting information involving numbers, carrying out calculations, interpreting results and presenting findings. The other module, Key Skills (Literacy) aims to develop students’ skills most commonly needed for success in a range of activities at work, in education and training and life in general. The course will develop their ability of “working with others,” “improving own learning” and performance as well as “problem solving.”
MMUH 101 Introduction to Accounting
This course offers learners who are new to the study of business, an introduction to some of the major themes which are developed with increasing complexity throughout this specification.
The course is designed to encourage learners to make basic connections between different aspects of business behaviour. Learners are introduced to the range of business activity in public, private and voluntary (not-for-profit) sectors and at local, national and global levels. Business aims and objectives are introduced along with strategies for their achievement via interdependent functional areas. Plans to ensure survival and encourage growth are also considered.
MISL 101 Business Environment
The aim of the course is to encourage learners to identify the objectives of organizations and the influence of stakeholders. Learners are also encouraged to investigate the operation of organizations in relation to the local, national and global environment. The course also provides learners with a solid base of understanding of the parameters within which organizations act that can be built upon in further courses.
MLOJ 101 Logistics
This lecture presents the fundamental management knowledge required by operations experts in the logistics and transport industry. It covers aspects of the internal and external structures of an organization, the governance of the people within the organization and those financial and other planning techniques necessary to maintain organizational health. It aims to deliver the understanding and competence of those key elements of management practice that are fundamental to both commercial and non-commercial organizations.
HUK 101 Common Law
Students are given how to understand and use basic legal terminology and some case studies in law. Law of contract is given at a basic level and making a business contract and implementation of a contract in business is also clarified. Students study a standard business contract and its application in business. They are also given the ways of how to use different kind of legislation for a certain case, and how to enforce and maintain rights.

This course covers world and Turkish languages; analysis of informative and storytelling texts; knowledge of written expression (the paragraph and its types, ways of improving critical thinking skills in writing assignments: definition, illustration, comparison, quotation, to profit by statistics) , types of expressions (explanative, argumentative, narrative, descriptive) writing different types of essays; prepared and unprepared speech (discussion, debate, telling jokes, narrating events and experiences, etc.); Turkish grammar (syntax, semantics); usage of Turkish (elements of expression, language mistakes); knowledge of Turkish spelling and punctuation.

Information Technology-II course consists of the following modules: Databases (with Microsoft Access), Presentation (with Microsoft PowerPoint) and Information and Communication.

In this course students are provided with the ability to develop communications skills and to plan their own communication process. It also deals with the effects of decisions made by directors on participants of the organization community. It also helps to develop better network based on sound principles and stresses the importance of information flow from the directors to other participants. The aim of this course is to provide students with the knowledge about fiscal year and cost analysis for the future. Data for the cost are gathered and analyzed and this data are used by management. Also, future prediction for the cost, budget planning, and budget control are examined. Different cost and budgeting systems are analyzed and problems and solutions are discussed.

This course provides an introduction to the nature of organisations in relation to management practices. The course examines the internal nature of organisations from both a theoretical and practical viewpoint. MISL 104 Business Mathematics
The aim of this course is to equip learners with the necessary tools to resolve mathematical problems in business life through applied examples. The course topics include percentage calculations, purchasing-cost and sales-profit calculations, proportional divisions and calculations about firms, mixed-compounded and composition problems, interest and discount calculations.

This course is an introduction to legal terms for corporations in Legal issues on antitrust violation,
This course introduces learners to four areas of business law which affect the day-to-day operation of many organizations in clearly understandable ways. Learners will consider rules for the formation of contracts, along with ways in which these differ from mere agreements, which are not legally enforceable. The unit covers elements of statutory consumer protection, in relation to contracts for the sale and supply of goods and services. Learners will also consider aspects of employment law, in particular recently improved employee rights and impact of data protection legislation on the workplace. International business and EU law regulations, monopoly, merging, use of proprietary etc. are also analyzed and studied.
MPAZ 101 Marketing
The aim of this course is to familiarize students with basic concepts and principles of marketing. It gives an insight into the role of marketing in changing business environments. It gives students a general point of view of marketing and prepares them for a professional marketing work.
MFIN 101 Managing Financial Resources and Decisions
The aim of this course is to give students insights in the management methods of financial operations in corporations. Students will study how to use financial resources, and the methods of using the resources and to make decisions. They will also study techniques of pricing, investment budgeting, financial performance evaluation.
MISL 201 Human Resources Management
This course provides an introduction to the concepts and practices of human resource management. The aim of the course is to provide an understanding of the human resource management role and function within the key areas of resourcing, reward, development and relations. The course also provides a global comparative perspective regarding human resources management policies and applications.
MISL 207 E-Business Operations
The development of the internet for purchasing, supply chain management and other business applications are examined in this course. It is first necessary to identify the essential differences between business and consumer purchasing (b2b and b2c). Experience with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) established the ground rules for e-business over the internet, which has led to the development of electronic marketplaces and industry networks. Electronic payment systems and use of the internet for recruitment, employee communication, logistics and international trade are also covered.
ATA 201 Principles of Ataturk and History Reforms -I
This course deals with the reform movements in last period of Ottoman Empire and the reasons of their failure, and the effects of those movements in Atatürk times, examples of events, ideologies to save the country in Ottoman time and among those ideologies, the effect of Turkish movement in the independence war.
MISL 211 Quality Management
The aim of this course is to enable learners to understand the concept of quality and quality management and define it in the context of business and services operations. Learners will investigate the major quality schemes and evaluate these in terms of the benefits to the organisation and to the customers they serve.
MGRS 201 Project Management
The aim of this unit is to provide a basic knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, tools and techniques that may be used in any industry, the professions and the public sector. Organizational and human resource factors are also included. Learners will develop an understanding of what constitutes a project and the role of a project manager. The aim of this unit is to develop an ethical dimension in consideration of business objectives and responsibilities and to develop a broader view of the management process. This will be achieved by investigation of narrow and broad business ethics issues and by making explicit links to related units.
MHIR 101 Public Relations
This course aims to help students develop a critical appreciation of the role of public relations in contemporary society and organizations. The course covers the history, principles and practice of public relations. It also examines the various contexts - social, cultural, intellectual and technological - in which practitioners must work, and relates them to the ethical standards of the individual, the profession and society. The course begins by examining the definition of public relations and how it has evolved. It then examines the major principles of PR practice and how they can be applied. It also examines the fields of practice in which PR practitioners work. Various case studies will be used to describe actual PR situations faced by a variety of individuals and organizations.

This course covers the basic understanding of international transportation, and issues on international trade and transportation. It provides students with the structure and management international transportation. It also deals with such issues; cost efficiency and pricing, measuring performance, policy of EU and Turkey. Transportation via international roads, railways, and air and sea topics are studied.

The aims of this course are to enable learners to familiarise themselves with the concepts of and strategies for developing customer relations and customer service, effectively finding and retaining customers, measuring customer relations, and organisational culture and change.

CBUS 219 Business English-I
Collaboration with department instructors on materials enables students to learn and use colloquial English and the jargon in their subject area. Vocabulary is emphasized. Some tables, pictures, maps and models are used when necessary. Role play is frequently used in class to help students use the language in a “real” environment. Also, students are given assignments to write reports and present them in English.
MPAZ 102 Marketing Planning
The aim of this course is to support and unite previously learned marketing knowledge. It helps students develop their ability of marketing planning analytically and to measure it with different tools. Students will understand the needs of corporations in marketing planning and learn how to prepare a marketing plan. In addition, strategic marketing planning is studied.
MISL 202 Business Strategy
The aim of this unit is to develop learners’ abilities to evaluate and select strategies appropriate to business organisations. This will involve an analysis of the impacts of the external operating environment and the need to plan organisational strategies to ensure effective business performance.
MISL 208 Business Decision Making
In business, good decision making requires the effective use of information. This unit gives learners the opportunity to examine a variety of sources and develop techniques for four aspects of information: data gathering, data storage, and the tools available to create useful information and present it. Computers are used in business for much of this and thus the appreciation and use of appropriate IT software is central to the completion of this unit. Specifically, learners will use spreadsheets and other software for data analysis and the preparation of information. The use of spreadsheets for the manipulation of numbers, and understanding of how to apply the results, are seen as more important than the mathematical derivation of formulae used. They will also gain an appreciation of information systems currently used at all levels in an organisation as aids to decision making.
MISL 206 Administrative Practices and Procedures
This unit allows learners to develop and practise their knowledge, abilities and skills as administrators or managers by examining the administrative functions within organisations. The unit is about preparing and co-ordinating operational plans and is also about managing time effectively and developing self to meet the needs of an organisation. The unit investigates the roles and responsibilities of key people within the organisation helping to meet its objectives. Learners will learn about ways in which events or activities are managed and will have the opportunity to investigate and participate in the running of an event in which they will take a major part in the management of a range of key resources.
ATA 202 Principles of Ataturk and History Reforms – II
This course stresses that the principles of Atatürk are based on the ideals to reach modern nations with Turkish historical and cultural values. The content of Atatürk’s word “Peace at home, peace in the world” policy is explained. The relationship between Ataturk’s reforms and the Turkish nation’s values, their unique features are examined.
MISL 204 E-Business Planning and Implementation
This course starts by considering customer expectations of e-business, because these dictate implementation priorities. It is first necessary to assess the status of the business information and logistics systems, because they will provide the foundation for e-business. Preparations will be necessary to meet the standards of support that e-customers expect. Marketing, promotion and supply chain management must be considered, alongside the website, when developing the implementation strategy. Protecting the intellectual property of the business and maintaining the integrity of its website require considerations of risk and appropriate security precautions. Finally, future developments in e-business are examined to help maintain a competitive edge.
MISL 210 Operations Management
The aim of this unit is to enable learners to grasp an understanding of the operations function within an organisation. They can then develop this knowledge to include elements of product and job design, planning and control and methods for improvement in order to effectively organise strategic operations management processes.
MISL 212 Small Business Enterprise
The unit is primarily designed for learners who are interested in small business enterprises and it looks at the development and expansion of such businesses. It draws together many of the topics covered in other units and allows learners to practise the business skills required in a small business.
MISL 214 Employee Relations
The main aim of this unit is to provide a general introduction to employee relations and to develop knowledge and understanding of the changes which have taken place over the years with respect to the employment relationship in Turkey. The unit considers the nature of industrial conflict and the resolution of collective disputes. The processes of collective bargaining and negotiation are also explored.
MYT 101 Facilities Operations
This course deals with management of facilities in general. Facilities include public recreational places, public art areas, tourist and entertainment centres, schools, universities, apartment buildings, hospitals, museums, and other places. It focuses on the management and day-to-day running of these places.
MLOJ 202 Supply Chain Management
The aim of this lecture is to examine the main principles, concepts and practices of supply chain management. This unit covers four main themes. These are: what a supply chain and supply chain planning is, why it is important in any business, how the supply chain operates and the principles for supply chain improvement. Where appropriate, the global nature of the supply chain will be emphasized. Learners will examine the components of supply chains and how these vary within different logistics and transport organizations. They will learn how organizations manage and control their supply chain functions to gain both competitive and cost advantage. Learners will also investigate supply chain planning from both the strategic and operational standpoint. They will identify and cost activities within supply chain operations, referring to performance indicators, marketing, and response to customer needs and benchmarking. As there is always a need to improve supply chain performance, learners will investigate methods used to enhance systems, approaches to performance improvement and the role of technology in supply chain improvement.

This course builds on the work in the core courses and also builds specifically on Introduction to Marketing. It extends the learners’ knowledge and understanding of marketing research, and helps to develop a range of marketing research skills. It offers opportunities for learners to engage in the processes of marketing. To achieve this course a learner must (1) explore the principles of marketing research, (2) plan research, (3) implement research and (4) consider the interpretation of research findings.
CTET 220 Business English–II
Collaboration with department instructors on materials enables students to learn and use colloquial English and the jargon in their subject area. Vocabulary is emphasized. Some tables, pictures, maps and models are used when necessary. Role play is frequently used in class to help students use the language in a “real” environment. Also, students are given assignments to write reports and present them in English.
